Quinn

Perfect Storm

Quinn began her journey 7 months ago. She has ADHD, high sensory input needs, and is deeply sensitive — especially in the RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria) way. From a young age, her tantrums were intense and difficult to manage. She struggles with impulse control, emotional regulation, inattention, and coordination, often swinging between being very disorganized and extremely meticulous.

She tends to fixate on crisis or “bad news” stories and will ask for them to be repeated. Jealousy can also be a trigger — even simple compliments toward someone else or affection shown to the family dog can feel personal and overwhelming to her. While she makes friends easily, maintaining friendships can be challenging due to big emotions, impulsivity, and difficulty with personal space. She connects especially well with adults who understand her. Her family has pursued occupational therapy, incorporated ADHD-friendly supplements, and created a regulation-focused home environment using “Zones” language.

Previously, she spent much of her time in the “yellow zone” (high, intense energy), but they are now seeing longer stretches in the “green zone.” She is sitting at the table more consistently, playing independently more often, and using her sensory tools regularly.

Although she can still go from 0 to 100 quickly — especially around others — she is beginning to bounce back faster. Her sleep and digestion have been stable. Overall, they are finally seeing improvements. The only area where she still seems to be struggling is her coordination, as she has been noticeably more clumsy recently. The increased calm, recovery, and independence, however, have been encouraging signs of progress. 💛
